The Conference is hosted by IMTA and organized by IMTA Secretariat and People's Government of Qianxinan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, with co-organization by Department of Culture and Tourism of Guizhou Province; Sport Administration of Guizhou Province; Foreign Affairs Office of Guizhou Province.

With the theme “Integration of Culture, Tourism and Sports Presents a High - Quality Life — Breathe Deep in the Mountains, A Slow - Living Sojourn,” the Conference will hold a series of events, including Opening Ceremony, the 2026 IMTA Annual Conference, a series of “Mountain Tourism +” Exchange Forums, “IMTA · Night of Wanfenglin” Welcome Banquet, Mountain Tourism Product Experience, World Famous Mountain Photography Exhibition & the 10th Anniversary Retrospective of the MTOS, and multiple outdoor sports events. During the Conference, domestic and international culture and tourism experts will be invited to deliver keynote speeches under the theme “Wellness Empowers Life, Long-Stay Connects the World,” and research findings on mountain outdoor sports will be released.

Guizhou’s mountain outdoor sports industry is vibrant and diverse. Relying on its Karst landscape resources, Qianxinan Prefecture has continued to develop rock climbing, hiking, trail running, camping, car rallying and other outdoor activities, accelerating the integration of mountain sports with tourism, culture and wellness. Multiple outdoor sports events will be held concurrently during the Conference, allowing participants and the public to enjoy the fun of “Breathe Deep in the Mountains” in Wanfenglin, Maling River Canyon and other scenic areas.

Since MTOS was launched in Qianxinan Prefecture in 2015, the Conference has been China’s only international summit themed on mountain tourism. For more than a decade, it has adhered to the principles of internationalization, market orientation, brand building and public participation, using mountains as a bond to build a global platform for dialogue and collaboration. It has released declarations and research outputs, including the Guizhou Declaration on International Mountain Tourism, the Report on Mountain Tourism Cooperation and Development under the RCEP Framework, and Climate Change and Mountain Tourism Responses, contributing many development concepts with global reference value. It has promoted the introduction of China’s first prefecture-level mountain tourism standards system and has identified and released globally “World Famous Tourism Mountains,” “IMTA International Mountain Hiking Tourism Demonstration Routes,” and “IMTA International Mountain Hot Spring Wellness Tourism Pilot Demonstration Site,” providing practical models for mountain resource development and product format cultivation. Over the past decade, the Conference has continued to deepen the integration of “tourism + sports + culture” and has become an important platform for promoting the high-quality development of Guizhou’s tourism industry and showcasing new mountain tourism formats.

From the inaugural MTOS in 2015 to its 10th edition in 2026, MTOS has witnessed and helped drive Guizhou’s leapfrog growth in mountain tourism. On November 8, join us in Qianxinan Prefecture for this ten-year milestone and experience “Breathe Deep in the Mountains, A Slow - Living Sojourn” amid a forest of peaks.
