Fort Worth, Texas – Sloane Law Firm, a Fort Worth criminal defense firm, has changed its name to Sloane & Routledge Law Firm. The change marks a promotion for attorney Ian Routledge, who is now a partner at the firm.
The office, phone number and focus of the practice are staying the same. The firm still handles criminal cases only, including drug and weapons charges, assault and family violence, sex offenses and DWI, for clients in Fort Worth, Tarrant County and the surrounding North Texas counties.
Routledge has served as the firm’s supervising attorney and lead trial attorney. He earned his law degree with honors from Texas A&M University School of Law, where he concentrated in criminal law, justice and policy and worked as a student attorney in the school’s Criminal Defense Clinic. Before moving into defense work, he interned with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. He also holds a master’s degree in forensic psychology.
“I’ve always tried to defend people the way I’d want to be defended if I were the one accused,” Routledge said. “Having my name on the door doesn’t change that. It just means I answer for it a little more publicly.”
He said the firm’s approach to clients isn’t changing either.
“When someone calls us, they want to know where their case stands and what comes next,” he said. “Our job is to tell them in plain language and to call them back. That’s what people remember.”
Routledge has been recognized as a Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star and has received the Avvo Clients’ Choice Award. The National Trial Lawyers named him to its Top 40 Under 40 list. He is a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Tarrant County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Tarrant County Bar Association.
