Dmitriy Misarenko Says the Real Relocation Season Starts Before the New Year, Not After

Nov 6, 2026

International business consultant Dmitriy Misarenko explains why entrepreneurs who wait until January to plan a relocation usually lose months they did not plan to lose.

NEW YORK, NY, November 06, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Every fall, Dmitriy Misarenko gets the same wave of calls. Business owners want to move themselves or their company to a new jurisdiction, and they want it done by the start of the new year.

Misarenko, an international business consultant based in Monaco with over 15 years of experience across banking and e-commerce, says the timing is almost always off.

"People think January 1 is a clean line," he says. "In practice, nothing about residency, licensing, or banking moves on a calendar. It moves on paperwork, and paperwork does not care what month it is."

Why the Fourth Quarter Matters More Than the First

Misarenko's consulting work now includes helping entrepreneurs think through international relocation and business structuring: picking a jurisdiction with a workable tax system, then handling the practical side that follows, legal documentation, schooling, residency timelines, and day-to-day stability.

He says the final months of the year are when this work should start, not finish.

"If someone wants to be operating in a new country by spring, the research and the filing both need to happen now," he says. "Government offices slow down around the holidays in a lot of places. Banks slow down too. If you start the process in January, you are often waiting until March or April just to get a first answer."

The Lag Nobody Plans For

Misarenko says the biggest miscalculation he sees is treating relocation as one event instead of a sequence.

"A residency permit might move at one speed. A business license moves at another. A bank account can take longer than both combined," he says. "People plan around the fastest piece and get surprised by the slowest one."

He points to infrastructure as a common blind spot. Entrepreneurs research tax rates carefully, he says, but spend far less time on the details that affect daily life once the move is done: school admissions timelines, housing availability, and how long it actually takes to get settled enough to run a business normally again.

"Tax planning gets all the attention because it is the part people can calculate on a spreadsheet," he says. "The other half, where your kids go to school, how secure the area is, how stable the environment is politically and economically, takes longer to sort out and gets started too late."

What He Tells Clients to Do Now

Misarenko's advice for anyone weighing a move into the next year is to separate the decision from the paperwork.

"Decide the jurisdiction now, if you can," he says. "Even if you are not ready to file anything yet, knowing the direction lets you start the slow parts; residency applications, school inquiries, banking relationships, while there is still time before everyone else is trying to do the same thing in January."

He also tells clients not to treat the choice as final the moment they commit to it.

"A jurisdiction that worked for someone else's business might not fit yours," he says. "I spend a lot of time asking what the business actually needs before suggesting where it should go. The tax rate is one input. It is not the whole decision."

Misarenko's work draws on the same discipline he built earlier in banking, he says, applied now to a different kind of client.

"In banking, you learn that the structure underneath a decision matters as much as the decision itself," he says. "Relocation is the same. The destination matters less than whether you built the path to get there correctly."

Dmitriy Misarenko is an international business consultant based in Monaco, with over 15 years of experience across banking and e-commerce. He began his career in the financial sector before co-founding two Poland-based consulting firms, advising clients across Europe on e-commerce strategy, brand development, and operational scaling. His current work includes consulting on international relocation and business structuring for entrepreneurs and business owners.
