Calvet finishes runner-up in French truck racing championship after final race title fight

Oct 12, 2026

Téo Calvet of Buggyra Academy France finished second in the French Truck Racing Championship, 17 points behind champion Thomas Robineau, after the title was decided in the last race of the season at Albi.

-- At the final race weekend of the season, Calvet won one race and secured two podium finishes. Calvet won thirteen races during the year, but retirements at Le Castellet and Le Mans cost him around 70 points. Those points proved decisive in the final standings.

“We’re runners-up in the French championship. It hasn’t been our best season, but we won thirteen races, which is no small achievement. The two retirements cost us 70 points, and we missed them here in Albi. Congratulations to Thomas Robineau and his team, they deserve the title. Thank you to the whole team for their work throughout the season,” said Calvet.

Saturday

Calvet arrived at the final round of the championship twelve points behind Robineau, with four races to decide the championship in Albi. Problems in qualifying prevented him from completing a clean lap, and he started the first race from fifth on the grid. The race was red-flagged twice, and Calvet was involved in a collision with Robineau. Both drivers continued, and Calvet finished fourth.

In the second race, which used a partially reversed grid, he started sixth and moved through the field to finish second. The championship remained open going into Sunday.

“It was a really tough day. We had problems in qualifying, and I couldn’t put together a clean lap. The first race was very chaotic, with two red flags. On top of that, I made contact with Thomas Robineau, but fortunately, we were both able to continue, and I finished fourth. The second race was great. There were some good battles at the front, and I made up positions to finish second. I am really pleased with that. We’re still second in the championship, but it’s not over yet. We’ll give it everything on Sunday,” said Calvet.

Sunday

Calvet won Sunday’s Superpole session and went on to win the first race of the day. In the final race of the season, he finished third, while Robineau finished sixth. However, this was not enough to change the standings. Robineau ended the season with 755 points, and Calvet with 738.

“We won one race today and finished third in the other, so we can be pleased with our performance on the final day,” said Calvet.

Looking ahead

Calvet and the team will now turn their attention to the 2027 season.

“I’d like to thank all the fans for their support. We’ll fight to reclaim the title next year, and I look forward to seeing everyone again next season,” concluded Calvet.
